Designing sustainable technologies with,
through and by data
The REDUCE project aims to develop educational resources for teaching reflective data practices for designing sustainable technologies with data (as design material), through data (as design method), and by data (AI as designer). To design with, though, by data means leveraging data as an active and critical resource in understanding, constructing and evaluating challenges worthy of design action.
The main result is a set of teaching activities, which will be published as an open educational resource (OER). The OER can be used by technology design teachers in higher education, to create conditions for students to grow into ecologically and socially responsible and sustainability-sensitive designers of future technologies.
The project is based on a collaboration between Malmö University (coordinator), Aarhus University, Eindhoven University of Technology, WB Advies & Communicatie and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme.
REDUCE is a continuation of the MOVA and VASE Erasmus+ projects and builds on the open education resource (OER) Teaching for values in design: Creating conditions for students to grow into responsible designers and developers of future technologies.
